Former New Orleans Saint quarterback Drew Brees, who announced his retirement ahead of the 2021 season, underwent surgery on his left shoulder, which should eliminate any glimmer of hope from Saints fans that Brees would make a comeback, according to NBC Sports’ Peter King.
Brees, 43, announced earlier in the week that he was leaving NBC Sports, where his performance was panned by viewers, and even hinted at playing football again. This lead to some speculation that Brees may be considering a comeback to the NFL.
“Despite speculation from the media about my future this fall, I’m currently undecided,” Brees said. He continued, “I may work for NBC, I may play football again, I may focus on business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids or all of the above. I’ll let you know.”
