The New York Yankees have released veteran outfielder Luis Gonzalez from his minor league deal, according to an official announcement from their Triple-A affiliate the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
Gonzalez, 28, signed with the Yankees back in December but he struggled over 10 games in Spring Training and would open the 2024 regular season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, appearing in 22 games.
Over 91 plate appearances, Gonzalez posted a solid .282/.374/.397 slash line but failed to hit any homeruns and clocked a 26.4% strikeout rate.
Gonzalez has played for the Chicago White Sox and San Francisco over parts of three seasons in the majors.
