Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes will enter the season with a completely different looking wide receiver group, which will not include the electric Tyreek Hill following his trade to the Miami Dolphins, but Mahomes is excited about what he has seen from the unit thus far.
One particular standout has been wide receiver Justin Watson, who joined the Chiefs via a one-year deal this offseason. Watson has already stood out for the work he has put in, which has caught the attention of Mahomes.
“He’s been a pleasant surprise for me,” Mahomes said, according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic. “That dude can roll. He came down to Texas. I threw with him the first day, and I called (General Manager Brett) Veach and I was like, ‘Wait, how fast is this guy?’ He was running so fast that I was late on my throws.”
Mahomes praised the entire receiver unit last week, noting just how talented the group is.
“It’s a very deep receiving room, Mahomes said, according to KSHB 41 Kansas City’s McKenzie Nelson. “It’s hard to tell which guys are going to make it because there are so many good receivers. That’s what you want. You want that competition.”
