Los Angeles Angels superstar two-way player Shohei Ohtani is about to cash in during the 2023 season and will do so in a record setting way, according to an annual list that was published by Forbes this week.
Per the report, Ohtani is expected to make a Major League Baseball-record $65 million for the 2023 regular season including endorsements which will make him the highest-paid player in the sport.
The earnings also include the one-year, $30 million contract extension that Ohtani signed back in October as part of an agreement with the Angels organization as they aimed to avoid salary arbitration. Ohtani is expected to make at least $35 million from endorsements, per the report.
Despite making some record cash this season, Ohtani is set to make even more following 2023 as he is currently slated to be a free agent and is widely expected to land one of the most lucrative contracts ever given out in the history of MLB.
Ohtani capped off another strong season in 2022, hitting 34 home runs and 95 RBIs while posting a 2.33 ERA in 28 starts with a 15-9 record for Los Angeles. Ohtani will take the hill as the Opening Day starter for the Angels on Thursday when they take on the Oakland Athletics.
