Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Russell Westbrook is expected to opt into the final year of his contract with the team at $47 million at the end of the month, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Westbrook will be entering the final year of his contract and despite a flurry of rumors following the end of a rocky first year with the Lakers, Westbrook, a former MVP, is expected to remain with the team.
It’s worth noting that things could change, and Westbook could decide not to opt in, but it is highly unlikely given the $47 million that will be sitting on the table if he does decide to opt into that final year.
