Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin Notches Milestone in Overtime Loss

1 Min Read

Washington Capitals star Alex Overchkin may not be happy that his team dropped an overtime game to the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday night, but he can certainly celebrate another career milestone that has placed him in the NHL record books.

According to the Associated Press, Ovechkin collected his ninth multi-goal game of the season, a feat that landed him in the record books along with Wayne Gretzky. His two goals tied him with Gretzky and Mike Bossy for most in league history.

“Obviously, it’s pretty good company,” Ovechkin said following the game. “Obviously lots of great memories, locker room, everything, hotel. It’s gonna stay here forever. Yeah, pretty fun moments.”

Ovechkin’s milestone performance didn’t stop there as he also became the oldest to score 50 in a season.
