Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving was reportedly set to explore finding a new team but, in a surprising turn of events, Irving opted in to his contract for next season with the Nets that left even more questions regarding the future of his teammate, Kevin Durant.
Now, it seems we have some clarity on Durant’s future with the Nets. Durant had been rumored to potentially be following his teammate Irving out the door in Brooklyn if Irving ended up being traded this offseason.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Durant is expected to move forward as a member of the Nets next season.
“Kevin Durant was very loyal to Kyrie Irving through this process” Wojnarowski said during an appearance on SportsCenter. “So the expectation right now is that Kevin Durant & Kyrie Irving will move forward for the Nets on this roster this year.”
