The Philadelphia Eagles are set to release veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffery at the beginning of the new league year in a move that has been expected for some time, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Jeffery restructured his contract just last month, along with Malik Jackson who is also rumored to be on the way out of the organization, and now Jeffery will join former Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson on the free agent market. Jackson was cut last week.
Philadelphia isn’t in a good cap situation, and in an effort to correct that they are now purging their roster of big contracts and veteran players.
Jefferey spent the past four seasons with the Eagles following his stellar run with the Chicago Bears, and was a big part of the 2017 Eagles team that won Super Bowl LII.
