Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse was brutally honest in discussing Toronto’s 45-points blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night. The Raptors played without Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, or OG Anunoby.
Toronto has had three of their last five games postponed and it’s hard to argue that they should have been permitted to play on Sunday.
“This is a pretty good example of how hard it is to coach defence in this league,” Nurse said following the game, according to TSN’s Josh Lewenberg. “It takes some guys, it takes some time & it takes some real discipline. If not, NBA guys are going to come out & score.”
Nurse also spoke about the game being allowed to go on, despite COVID-19 protocol issues.
“It’s a hard question to answer. I’m always trying to be part of solutions. We’ve got a big problem here, not just in basketball… Leaders make decisions and you try to ride with them, be positive and go do your job.”
