WWE is heading into Wrestlemania season with a number of big moves on their mind, one of which is landing a former seven-time champion for a big return.
Sasha Banks walked out of WWE over creative differences back in early 2022 and has since rebranded to Mercedes Mone and has competed in Japan and also has been heavily rumored to sign with AEW, a deal that has yet to come to fruition despite several months of reports from pro wrestling journalists.
WWE is now working on bringing back Mone (fka Banks), potentially for the Royal Rumble, but negotiations have since hit a snag that could derail a return at this time.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingNews.co), Mone and WWE are “far apart on money” on a potential contract that would bring Banks/Mone back into the WWE fold.
Meltzer said: “She was absolutely negotiating with WWE…We were told by multiple people that they were far apart on money.”
Despite reports saying that AEW has no longer any working plans for Mone, and hasn’t for several months, Meltzer said that a Mone/AEW deal is not completely dead.
Meltzer reports that there is “certainly a lot of talk of her in AEW,” leading many to suspect that Banks would have made an appearance during AEW’s ‘World’s End’ PPV event that streaming this past weekend on the Bleacher Report wrestling streaming platform.
The PPV came and went without an appearance or any announcement regarding Mone.
Despite reporting indicating that WWE has moved on from a deal with Mone at this time, many fans aren’t exactly 100% buying it given that situation revolving around CM Punk’s epic return to WWE at the conclusion of November’s Survivor Series event in Chicago.
For now, we simply need to wait and see.
