Omoruyi, who is now the Scarlet Knights’ highest-ranked recruit since 2008 chose Rutgers over Arizona State and Auburn, according to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.
Omoruyi, a 6’10 center from Nigeria who attends Roselle Catholic High School (New Jersey), is currently ranked 49th in the ESPN 100 for the Class of 2020, and was heavily recruited by Rutgers, which included multiple visits.
During one visit, Omoruyi attended a game back in January and the Rutgers’ faithful, in the student section seating, started chanting his name.
Omoruyi averaged 11.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks while playing for the New York Lightning in the Nike EYBL circuit last spring and summer.
