New England Patriots star cornerback Stephon Gilmore, the NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
The Patriots, who recently placed quarterback Cam Newton on the reserve/COVID-19 list after he tested positive for coronavirus, canceled its Wednesday practice.
Gilmore was on the plane of people who had close contact with Newton.
Prior to the news breaking, a photo of Gilmore and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in close contact with one another on Monday night, according to Pro Football Talk.
All tests for Chiefs’ players came back negative on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
