The Buffalo Bills and superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs have restructured the All-Pro receivers current contract that will see $11.7 million of Diggs’ base salary into a signing bonus, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Due to the move, the Bills created an additional $7.8 million in additional cap space in 2021, but that can be pushed onto the books for 2022.
The Minnesota Vikings inked Diggs to a five-year, $72 million contract extension back in July of 2018, but Diggs $14.4 million annual salary proved to be too costly for the Vikings, which prompted them to trade the receiver to Buffalo in exchange for a first round pick, prior to last season.
The results were well worth the cost, as Diggs was a major part of the Bills run to the AFC Championship game, and led the NFL with 27 catches and 1,535 receiving yards during the 2020 regular season.
