The Miami Dolphins are entering the offseason looking to beef up their offensive arsenal, especially in the backfield, and may have already pinpointed who they will pursue once the free agency period officially opens.
According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Dolphins are interested in Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones, who could be set to hit the free agent market if he and the Packers are unable to work out a new contract before the March 15th deadline, and Jones is interested in the Dolphins.
Miami will also be focusing on bolstering the wide receiver corps heading into next season, and they currently have the cap space and the draft capitol to address both areas of need on offense this offseason.
The new league year officially begins on March 17th, and if the Packers and Jones fail to reach a new deal, Jones could already have a deal in place before the legal tampering period officially concludes.
Jones has had an impressive stint with the Packers, averaging over 5 yards a carry in three of his four seasons in Green Bay. Jones also led the NFL with 19 touchdowns back in the 2019 season, and notched his second consecutive 1,000 yard season in 2020, while averaging a career-high 78.4 yards per game.
