The Boston Celtics have emerged as favorites to land Orlando Magic veteran forward Aaron Gordon and guard Evan Fournier ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline, according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick.
Boston would use its $28.5 million Traded Player Exception from the Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade with the Charlotte Hornets this past offseason to absorb Gordon, but would need to structure a separate deal to land Fournier.
Per the report, the Celtics have put two 1st round draft picks (from Sacramento in 2019 and from Memphis in 2020) on the table and would likely include two-time first-team All-Defensive selection Marcus Smart heading to the Magic with both Gordon and Fournier coming to Boston.
The Denver Nuggets are also reportedly in the mix for Gordon as well.
