The Chicago Bears may already be eyeing their next quarterback, despite their surprising start to the 2020 NFL regular season.
According to The Athletic’s Dan Pompei, the Bears could explore a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who may also be a candidate to be releases, although it is unlikely.
Per the report, the 49ers could fetch a second or third round draft pick in exchange for Garoppolo, who has battled injuries and inconsistency in San Francisco this season.
However, Garoppolo’s contract may pose a potential hurdle for any trade to take place. But, with the Bears constant need to find a solution at quarterback and unlikely to be in position to select one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft, they may need to kick the tires on costly situations.
