The Washington Wizards landed former MVP guard Russell Westbrook in a trade that saw John Wall head to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night and apparently Washington is were Westbrook wanted to go all along.
According to the Washington Post’s Michael Lee, the Wizards were Westbrook’s preferred destination as he was intrigued about playing with Bradley Beal and reuniting with head coach Scott Brooks, whom Westbrook played for when they were both with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Westbrook, 30, had been rumored to be a target for the Charlotte Hornets and the New York Knicks, with the Wall/Westbrook trade popping up in the rumor mill just recently.
While it will be interesting to see how Brooks makes things work with Beal and Westbrook, the Rockets will be an interesting story this season as Wall returns to the court for the first time since 2018.
