The Houston Texans apparently needed to upset their franchise quarterback in order to do what he was looking for them to do in the first place.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Texans have requested an interview with Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, which is something that Watson has been pushing for.
Watson was reportedly assured by Texans owner Cal McNair that he would be involved in the process of selecting the team’s next head coach and general manager, but was not in the loop as the team hired Nick Caserio as their new GM, and while Watson was fine with the hire, he was upset by not being kept in the loop by the team.
Reports surfaced over the weekend that Watson was upset with the team, and was looking into possibly demanding a trade. Watson currently has a no-trade clause in his contract, but it was reported that he would be willing to waive it for a move to the Miami Dolphins.
With Houston finally doing something that Watson was looking for them to do, we will see if it helps smooth things over between the team and their franchise signal caller.
