Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis is expected to agree on a new deal with the team, but no formal deal will be made in the immediate days following the start of free agency, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Davis, 27, plans to wait minimally through Thanksgiving as he considers his options on the length and structure of maximum contract deals, and his agent will be in contact with Lakers brass after 6pm EST on Friday.
Davis will have a few options on a new contract with the Lakers, per the report, as he could ink either a three-year, $106 million deal that would include a player option on the 2022-23 season or a two-year, $68 million deal with an option after next year.
Davis also has options for longer contracts such as four years ($146.7M) and five years ($189M) in a new deal.
