Clippers’ PJ Tucker Stands Firm on Trade Request

PJ Tucker still wants out

1 Min Read

As the NBA Trade Deadline approaches today, Los Angeles Clippers veteran forward PJ Tucker is holding firm regarding his request to be traded from the Clippers despite the team’s success this season.

The Clippers acquired Tucker back in October when he was a part of the blockbuster trade that brought James Harden to the Clippers.

Over time, Tucker, 38, saw his role and playing time diminish.

Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue opted to play younger players such as Kobe Brown, and more recently gave more playing time to Amir Coffey which completely removed Tucker from the team’s rotation.

In fact, Tucker hasn’t logged a single minute of playing time since November 27th, and that is what prompted Tucker to request a trade with the hopes that he could wind up on a team who would include him in their rotation.

According to ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly, Tucker’s “stance hasn’t changed from when we spoke a few months ago: He wants a trade and an opportunity to play on a contending team.”

However, given Tucker’s decline in play and the two years and $22.5 million remaining on his deal, it’s hard to envision a team making a move.
