The Miami Heat have finally hit their stride and look like the major contender in the Eastern Conference that many believed them to be entering the 2020-2021 NBA season, following an impressive road trip that ends on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has taken note of the Heat’s strong play during the recent road trip. Miami has gone 6-4 over the course of their past 10 games, improving their season record to 13-17 on the season.
“I think, without a doubt, this is one of the best segments of the season for us” Spoelstra said, according to Yahoo Sports. “We’ve made big strides I think in the last eight, nine days of this trip and we’ve dealt with some adversity together. I think that’s always good for our group.”
A main factor in Miami’s recent success has been the strong play of big man Bam Adebayo, who credits the road trip for helping improve the Heat’s team chemistry.
“When we’re at home we can’t really see each other” Adebayo said. “We’re in the hotel now, we’re traveling together on the plane, getting to talk to one another and really getting that cohesive brotherhood again that we had last year. It’s great for us and we just got to keep building from here.”
