The San Francisco 49ers are hoping to finalize a deal with veteran wide receiver Tavon Austin who they have brought in for a visit, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Austin, 30, played for the Dallas Cowboys the past two seasons, logging only 21 receptions, but only played in 7 games during the 2018 season.
Austin was drafted in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams, who used him a plethora of roles on offensive, but eventually injuries limited Austin.
The 49ers may have the coaching to help use Austin as a “swiss army knife”, allowing him to play receiver, carry the ball, and even take on return duties for the team and if he can stay healthy, he could be a great under-the-radar signing.
