The Kansas City Chiefs are finalizing a deal that would send All-Pro cornerback Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams for draft picks, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Kansas City had been pushing for a return from Los Angeles that would include draft picks and defensive end Robert Quinn, but the Rams have held put in not including Quinn in the deal.
Despite the Chiefs’ request, the Rams will only be sending draft picks.
Peters is considered one of the best corners in the league, making the All-Pro team in 2016 and winning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year back in 2015, but issues have raised concerns.
The Chiefs had suspended Peters for one-game during the season for his actions after a loss to the New York Jets when he tossed a referee’s flag, but was not ejected.
For Los Angeles, this move signifies that the team will move on from cornerback Trumaine Johnson who is scheduled to hit free agency, and should be one of the top corners available on the free agent market.
