Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. was not with the team again on Thursday when they hosted the Dallas Mavericks, and it appears that his exact return is still up in the air as he continued to be away from the team due to the league’s contact tracing protocol amid COVID-19.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, although Porter finished a seven-day quarantine this week due to contact tracing protocols, he now faces an additional quarantine within a 10-14 day range.
Nuggets head coach Michael Malone spoke of Porter’s status prior to Thursday’s game.
“Michael Porter is not with our team right now because of COVID protocols. … This is going to take a lot of dedicated hard work by all of us to continue to stay together, educate and find ways to improve ourselves as well as our communities and this nation.” Malone said, according to The Gazette’s Vinny Benedetto.
Porter has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, averaging 19.5 points per game and 6.8 rebounds for the Nuggets.
