Los Angeles Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook is once again the subject of trade rumors as the Lakers continue to struggle, and Westbrook wasn’t holding back during his postgame presser following the Lakers loss to the Phoenix Suns earlier this week.
The former MVP, who is now looking like an awkward fit on the current Lakers roster, was asked about how the team was coping with the struggles, and Westbrook responded in detail.
“I mean that’s obvious” Westbrook said (h/t Silver Screen and Roll). “Everybody knows that, but nobody cares. They don’t want to hear that. That’s just reality. Because every game we get asked the same question of ‘Hey, can you guys figure it out.’ But everybody obviously knows that we haven’t been able to see what our team can actually be like thus far.”
“But we understand that, and like I just said, our job is to be able to keep our head down, stay locked in on one common goal and that’s at the end of the year just winning a championship and to do that is not going to be easy. It’s not going to be an easy road. And we understand that and have to stay with it and continue to move forward.”
With the Lakers limping to a 16-16 record and not looking like one of the Western Conferences elite teams thus far this season, Westbrook could be a chip used to bring in a better fit as the season moves on.
