The Arizona Diamondbacks have bolstered their rotation by agreeing to terms with former San Francisco Giants front line starter Madison Bumgarner on a five-year, $85 million contract, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.
Bumgarner reportedly had an offer to stay with the Giants, who drafted him 10th over back in 2007, with a four-year contract worth “just above” $70 million on the table, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic.
Bumgarner, 30, was named to the All-Star team four times, finished in the top 10 of NL Cy Young voting four times and won three World Series titles, during his decade long tenure in San Francisco.
Arizona now adds a proven pitcher who is coming off a season in which he pitched to the tune of a 3.90 ERA.
