The Chicago White Sox have officially announced the signing of free agent third baseman Jake Lamb, pending a physical, according to FanSided’s Robert Murray.
In a corresponding move, the White Sox have designated left-hander Nik Turley for assignment. Turley was claimed off waivers just last week from the Oakland Athletics.
Lamb lost a roster spot battle with veteran Pablo Sandoval during Spring Training with the Atlanta Braves. Lamb is familiar with White Sox coach Tony La Russa, who was the Chief Baseball Officer of the Arizona Diamondbacks during Lamb’s tenure with the team from 2014-2017, arguably the best of his career.
Lamb spent last season with the Oakland Athletics and the Diamondbacks.
