WWE Payback is the first pay-per-view since a lackluster Wrestlemania, and it is going to be a shockingly good pay-per-view in my eyes.
So, let’s go down the card and give you guys my predictions for the show. Side note, this is the first ever….EEEEEEVVVVVEEEERRRR pay-per-view I am attending, so I will give you guys a podcast of my reactions shortly after.
Enzo And Cass vs The Club (Kick Off)
This is a great way to kickoff a pay-per-view, even more so in the Bay Area. Assumably, Enzo and Cass will come out first doing their SAWFT chants, getting the crowd hyped for tonight’s show.
Typically, baby faces will win, so, i’m taking Enzo and Cass for this match
Next, Miz Tv feat. Finn Balor
While this is not a match, I still think it has the chance to do something really good for both Finn and The Miz.
I think whats going to happen is what has happened on the last few segments of Miz tv.
Miz talks, Miz gets hit, Finn gets the cheap pop that he is sure to get just for showing up, end the segment and start the show!
Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe
This is a match that I think people don’t quite understand has a lot of history in the making.
Joe and Rollins faced off in ROH a while back while Rollins was still under the name Tyler Black. This match, as Seth put on Twitter, has gone past the point of personal.
When Joe made his debut, he went for a choke on Rollins, and on the way down took out the high flyers knee in the process. Ever since then, Rollins has been boastfully wearing a knee brace (assumably in Kayfabe).
In the same was of debuts, Rollins had shown off a brand new finishing move, much like the one a certain NJPW star uses…
I think in this match, we will see Rollins use that new knee to the side of the face to pick up the win.
Neville vs. Austin Aries (Cruiserweight Championship)
This is a match that started out as something that no one really thought would happen. Aries was sidelined for awhile from an eye injury, after a kick from the King Of Strong Style. After that, he had taken time to be a commanter for The Cruiserweight division on RAW.
On an episode of RAW, Austin did a post match interview with Neville, to which Austin used for the perfect chance to strike, and introduce himself into the high flying division.
Since then, we have seen Aries perform in the ring for the first time in awhile, winning a match to be the number one contender for the purple belt.
After taking a loss at Mania this year, Austin has his rematch this sunday at Payback.
Austin Aries will pick up this win, and become the new King of the Cruiserweights. Sparking a fantastic feud with TJ Perkins.
Matt and Jeff Hardy vs. Cesaro and Sheamus (Raw Tag Team Championships)
Now that the Hardys are back, they have been packaged as a nostalgia act, not the BROKEN tag team like they were in TNA: IMPACT.
The effect will wear off very, very soon. So it is going to be smart if they bring back this BROKEN gimmick.
But for now, it is best to take what we have and run with it. Luckily, I think we all know WWE is not stupid enough to have the Brothers drop the titles so soon, so, I am taking The Hardys.
Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss (Raw Women’s Championship)
I honestly thought that Nia Jax would have been the number one person on the radar for the RAW women’s title, defeating Charlotte Flair before she jumped ship to Smackdown.
But, we have Alexa Bliss taking on the hometown girl Bayley instead. To me, this match is almost a no brainer and I would not be shocked if it went on first on the main card.
It’s the hometown girl, Bayley is walking out of San Jose as your champion, for a no DQ rematch at Extreme Rules.
Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho (United States Championship)
This match truly interests me the most, because the winner will be going over to SmackDown LIVE!
While it is heavily rumored that Chris will be leaving the company, saying on his podcast Talk Is Jericho, that his contract is over on the 1st of May.
Jericho leaked a clip of his band Fozzy’s new song and about 30 seconds of the music video on social media, leading people to assume that he will lose and head out of the company for a while to go on tour with his band
In this match, I am taking the man with no beard, Kevin Owens (please grow it back)
Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
This is a match that people are so angry over and I can both understand and not understand why.
Roman is being force fed to us by WWE, as he is projected to be the next John Cena when he leaves the company in the near future.
And in the last few Pay-Per-Views, he has main evented.
Bruan on the other hand has been booked as a HUGE monster heel by shoving tiny little Kalisto in a dumpster and throwing him off the stage Road Dogg style, making the RAW ring collapse with a superplex to the Big Show, and destroying Roman on RAW, tearing his shoulder and cracking his ribs.
In this match, it is going to be a very hard hitting matchup, with Bruan Stowman leaving as the winner, but not by any easy means.
Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt (House of Horrors)
What in Gods name is a “House of Horrors” match? Is it going to be anything like the Hardy Compound match? The Ambrose Asylum match? Boiler Room Brawl? WWE has not at all given us any form of information.
This match is NOT for the World Title, like a lot of people assumed it was going to be. So it leads me to think that Bray may take the win, to really give him a good push going into RAW to start his new feud.
Luckily this 7 month feud between Orton and Bray is coming to an end here, I think Orton will forsure loose, as it is not for a tittle.
Bray Wyatt will win this match.
Thank you all so much for giving me a read! Be sure to follow me on Twitter, and let me know your predictions and reactions!
