The Toronto Raptors celebration for their 2019 Finals victory, and NBA Championship win, over the Golden State Warriors won’t be without its drama as Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri is under investigation for suspicion of misdemeanor battery on a police officer, according to ESPN.
The alleged incident reportedly occurred on the court at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California as the Raptors were celebrating their championship victory, and Ujiri was trying to join the team celebration on the floor.
Ujiri was reportedly stopped by a deputy, and although the details are slim at this time as to what exactly occurred, video has surfaced online of the aftermath of the incident, courtesy of NBC Bar Area.
The sheriff’s office is gathering information on what exactly occurred, talking to witnesses and members of the security teams as well as gathering available video, Sgt. Ray Kelly said on Friday.
The sheriff’s office has spoken with the NBA and the league is aware of the investigation, but the sheriff’s office has not yet spoken to the Raptors or Ujiri, and the investigation is expected to end by next week.
