The New York Yankees and superstar outfielder Aaron Judge have agreed to a one-year, $19 million contract, avoiding an arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday, according to multiple reports, including ESPN.
Judge, 30, is in the middle of a MVP campaign and the best season of his career, and can make an additional $250,000 for MVP and $250,000 for World Series MVP. Judge is currently on pace to become the first player in over than two decades to club 60 homers and have an OPS of over 1.000.
The Yankees and Judge were scheduled for an arbitration hearing, and it was reported that Judge would decline the Yankees offer of $19 million. Up to this point, Judge has been paid at a prorated salary based on the Yankees’ $17 million offer.
