The Detroit Lions will not be utilizing the franchise tag on star wide receiver Kenny Golladay as they work on a new contract with the pending free agent, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pellissero.
The Lions now have less than a week to negotiate a new deal with Golladay, whom they have said that they want to keep on the team for the long term. Should Golladay hit the free agent market, he would likely fetch a lucrative, long term contract offer from a number of teams.
Golladay was limited to only 5 games last season for Detroit due to hip and hamstring injuries, and he finished the seasons with 20 receptions for 338 yards and two scores. However, Golladay is still considered a young, premier receiver talent, and regardless of where he signs, he should be cashing in on a big deal.
