The Miami Marlins are hoping that their new addition is a chip off the old block as they have agreed to terms with left-hander Jared Pettitte, who is the son of legendary New York Yankee pitcher Andy Pettite.
Miami signed Pettitte as an undrafted free agent on Tuesday.
Pettitte pitched for Dallas Baptist University this past season and posted a 5.81 ERA over 13 games. He also led his Houston high school team to a state title back in 2016 posting a 12-1 record with a 1.20 ERA along the way.
Marlins CEO Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte were teammates for 15 seasons with the Yankees.
