The New York Giants are moving on from Kenny Golladay, a big free agent addition only a few season ago, following an underwhelming run with the receiver-needy Giants and plan to release him on the first day of the new league year on March 15th, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
With the move taking place on March 15th, the Giants will save $6.7 million against their salary cap.
Golladay, 29, was set to count $21.4 million against the Giants cap and is still guaranteed $4.5 million this upcoming season. His career with the Giants comes to a close with a meager 43 receptions, 602 yards and only 1 touchdown.
It’s far cry from the numbers Golladay put up with the Detroit Lions, where he surpassed the 1,000 yard receiving mark twice and earned his lone Pro Bowl nod in 2019 after setting career highs with 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns, leading to his big free agency deal with the Giants.
