San Diego Padres fans showered slugger Juan Soto with a standing ovation during his official debut with his new team, who acquired him from the Washington Nationals ahead of the MLB trade deadline earlier this week.
Soto was feeling the love.
“It brings a lot of emotions for me,” Soto said, according to a report from MLB.com’s AJ Cassavell. “It feels amazing, all the crowd and everything. It was an amazing moment for me, how they cheered for me.”
Soto made his mark in his debut, sparking the Padres to a 9-1 victory, going 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored.
Soto said that the Padres’ fans ovation “brings a lot of emotions” for him calling it an “amazing moment”.
