Ahead of the blockbuster trade that sent All-Pro quarterback Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos this offseason, the Seahawks organizations had some concerns regarding their then-franchise signal caller.
According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, who cited a front office member of the Seahawks, the organization was concerned that Wilson may not be the player that he once was, particularly when it came to his mobility.
“He’s not as mobile as he used to be,” a Seahawks front office member said.
The report goes on to highlight a particular play during the 2021 season that led the organization to question if Wilson was starting to decline. The game was a Week 16 tilt between the Chicago Bears and Seattle and when taking a snap during the 4th quarter, Wilson attempted to do his patented spin move to escape a collapsing pocket, but instead found himself being sacked by Bears’ defensive end Robert Quinn.
The Broncos apparently weren’t concerned with any of that, making the big move to land Wilson as they look to become a serious contender once again.
