Toronto Blue Jays franchise cornerstone Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walked away with a major victory this week in arbitration against the Jays as he won a record $19.9 million in salary arbitration on Wednesday, according to ESPN.

The three person panel comprised of Scott Buchheit, Walt De Treux and Jeanne Charles sided with Guerrero as opposed to the Blue Jays’ $18.05 million offer after they heard arguments from both sides.

With the victory, Guerrero topped the previous high awarded from a hearing which was last year when Seattle Mariners outfielder Teoscar Hernandez received $14 million.

Guerrero hit .264 with 26 home runs and 94 RBIs last year for Toronto playing with a $14.5 million salary. Guerroro, who turns 25 next month, will be eligible for free agency following the 2025 season.
