Giants, Blake Snell Agree to 2-Year, $62 Million Contract

Blake Snell lands in San Francisco

1 Min Read

The San Francisco Giants bolstered their rotation with the signing of National League Cy Young award winner Blake Snell on a two-year, $62 million contract ending Snell’s prolonged free agency, according to ESPN.

Snell lands with the Giants less than 10 days before the start of their regular season, which will ironically be against his former team, the San Diego Padres. The new contract includes an opt-out after the first season.

Snell’s deal provides  him a higher average annual value in exchange for fewer length on his contract while also giving him the opportunity to get back into the free agency market next offseason, so he can attempt to land a more appealing and lucrative deal.

Snell, 31, spent the past three years with the Padres and posted a 14-9 record and a 2.25 ERA last season.
