Colorado Rockies star shortstop Trevor Story remains a big name to watch ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline and the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants appear to be among the teams that are interested, according to MLB Network insider Jon Morosi.
Morosi goes on to say that the Giants would “love” to add Story or Chicago Cubs star Kris Bryant.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Yankees see room for Story, even after acquiring Texas Rangers slugger Joey Gallo on Wednesday, and they are also eyeing pitching upgrades in what appears to be a very aggressive few days for the Yanks.
However, the Yankees interest appears to be contingent on not including one of their top prospects in any deal, such as shortstop Anthony Volpe, according to SNY’s Andy Martino.
If the Yankees do acquire Story it would be a major addition, and they would likely move Gleyber Torres to second base and DJ LeMahieu to first base. It would also strongly suggest that the Yankees would move Luke Voit, last year’s home run leader.
