The New York Mets and superstar infielder Francisco Lindor are apparently at a standstill in their negotiations for a new, long-term contract as Lindor is set to his the final season of his current contract.
According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, the Mets have reportedly put forth a 10-year, $325 million offer to Lindo, while Newsday’s Tim Haley reports that Lindor’s representatives have countered that offer with a 12-year, $385 million contract.
Lindor’s asking price of $385 million would be the largest financial commitment made to a player in terms of new money, ever, surpassing that of Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts’ $365 million deal.
