1 Min Read

The Los Angeles Angels have released veteran outfielder Aaron Hicks, according to the transaction log at MLB.com.

Hicks release was expected after the Angels designated the veteran outfielder for assignment on Monday. Should Hicks clear waivers he will officially become a free agent where he will try to land on a new team following a disappointing stint with the Angels.

Hicks was release from the New York Yankees, who are still responsible for Hicks’ pay in the final two years of his contract, during last season but turned things around after joining the Baltimore Orioles where he posted .275/.381/.425 slash in 65 games in Baltimore.

Hicks, 34, struggled mightily in Los Angeles where he hit .140/.222/.193 overall and struck out in 23 of his 63 plate appearances.
