Chicago Cubs star third baseman Kris Bryant suffered an oblique injury during Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and is listed as day to day, according to Cubs’ manager David Ross.
“I definitely feel like it’s frustrating,” Ross said, according to ESPN’s Jesse Rogers. “He was pretty emotional. It’s a unique year and he’s dealt with a lot.”
Bryant has dealt with a number of injuries of the last few years, and he has had multiple pauses to his 2020 season, which has contributed to a down season in which he is hitting .195 with 5 RBIs over 32 games for Chicago.
“It’s a frustrating situation for him,” Ross said. “I know he wants to be out there and play. Hopefully we get some good news … We’ll see how it goes tomorrow [Tuesday]. I’m trying to hold out hope.”
