The Chicago Cubs will likely part ways with two star players at the upcoming MLB trade deadline with veteran slugger Kris Bryant and closer Craig Kimbrel considered likely to be dealt, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The report states that Bryant “is almost certain to get dealt” and “is as good as gone”, and that Kimbrel is likely going to be dealt as his value has skyrocketed due to his return to form during this season.
The New York Mets and the Washington Nationals have both been linked to Bryant, a former MVP.
Kimbrel has posted a 0.53 ERA over 33 2/3 innings pitched for Chicago this season.
