The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to terms with right-hander Taijuan Walker on a four-year, $72 million contract, adding another solid player to the team after signing short stop Trea Turner, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The Phillies lost to the Houston Astros in the World Series, and seem intent on bolstering a National League Championship roster, with big moves this offseason, headlines by the 11-year, $300 million deal they reached with Turner.
Walker, 30, had one of the strongest seasons of his career in 2022 while with the New York Mets, posting a 3.49 ERA, 2.6 bWAR and a 1.19 WHIP in 157 innings pitched, striking out 132 batters while walking 45.
