The battered New York Yankees starting pitching staff is about to get a potentially big boost as veteran starter Luis Severino, who is scheduled to make a rehab start on Tuesday, could be closing in on a return to the rotation.
According to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, if all goes well during Severino’s rehab start on Tuesday he could make his official return to the Yankee rotation on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds.
First, Severino must continue his strong showing in what will be his second rehab start. Back on May 10th, Severino threw 3.1 innings and allowed a run on two hits and a walk while sticking out three.
Severino, who has not pitched this season due to a lat strain that he suffered during spring training, will start on Tuesday with the Somerset Patriots, and the sports social media world will be watching.
