Former NFL quarterback and Washington Redskins legend Mark Rypien, who won Super Bowl MVP honors when leading the Redskins to a win in Super Bowl XXVI, was arrested for domestic violence on Sunday following an incident with his wife in Washington, according to TMZ Sports.
Rypien, 56, and his wife got into an altercation and when police arrived at an intersection in Spokane, they found Rypien standing by his vehicle and his wife nearby lying on the grass.
According to KHQ, officers spoke with both Rypien and his wife for close to an hour, and his wife was evaluated by paramedics but did not need further medical attention.
Rypien was arrested and booked for fourth-degree domestic violence, and was due in court Monday morning.
