Roman Reigns was set to close out Friday Night SmackDown with a State of the WWE Universal Championship Address. Paul Heyman began to list all of the challengers that failed to dethrone the Head of the Table. Heyman stood in awe of Reigns, praising him for “demolishing” the entire SmackDown roster.
Leaving no other viable option to challenge The Tribal Chief, Heyman declared that Reigns would be doing something that had never been done on network television before, but as soon as Roman was about to make his announcement, Edge’s music hit, leaving the Universal Champion shocked and at a loss for words.
Edge made it halfway down the ramp, where his eyes dead locked in on his target Roman Reigns. Both men exchanged punches, but Edge would get the upper hand by knocking Reigns out of the ring and slamming his head several times on the commentary table.
Reigns would recover and land a Superman Punch on Edge, but The Rated-R Superstar was simply relentless in his assault on the Champion. Edge laid out Reigns with a spear and was about to hit him with a “Conchairto” when Jimmy Uso came to the aide of his cousin.
Edge speared Jimmy through a security barricade while Reigns and Heyman retreated to the top of the ramp. The Rated-R Superstar called out the Champion saying “Where you at Roman, I’m right here” to close the show

Edge was rumored for a SmackDown return to begin a feud with Seth Rollins in order to set up a “dream match” at SummerSlam. After the events that took place on tonight’s edition of the Blue Brand, it looks the like the Rated- R Superstar still has some unfinished business with Roman Reigns.
