New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton made his official return to the team facility on Thursday, and participated in team practice after missing three straight days due to a COVID-19 protocol “misunderstanding”, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would say that Newton “didn’t violate team rules.”
“I don’t really have anything to add. We released a statement, and I think that covered it as thoroughly as we can without getting into a lengthy thing. So we’ll just leave it at that,” Belichick said on Thursday.
The Patriots will kick off the season against the Miami Dolphins, and when asked about Newton’s availability for the opener Belichick said – “I don’t have a timetable on that. … I’m not sure.”
