Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is shooting down rumors that the team is shopping veteran big man Kristaps Porzingis ahead of the NBA trade deadline, according to Dallas Morning News’ Brad Townsend.
“It’s not accurate,” Cuban said, per the report. “We have not discussed him in a trade at all. Has not happened.” Cuban says that the team is not happy there was a “supposed ‘Western Conference exec’ ripping on one of our players.”
“I think they just used it as a way to put out there what they think of KP,” Cuban said.
Porzingis has averaged 20.5 points and 8.2 rebounds this season for Dallas, playing in 17 games thus far.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, the Mavs have “sniffed around” about Porzingis’ trade value – “They’ve definitely sniffed around on him,” an assistant general manager reportedly told B/R. “They’re taking the temperature, because they know at some point it’s gonna come around.”
