Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd is about to embark on his first season at the helm of a promising team led by phenom Luka Doncic, but Kidd believes that next season will be more about the bounce back of veteran big man Kristaps Porzingis.
“We want him to move and do the things that he’s done before he was asked to do his role last year” Kidd said of Porzingis, according to Mavs.com’s Dwain Price. “I think it’s just a matter of him feeling comfortable with some of the new stuff, but I think KP is going to have an incredible year.”
Porzingis is coming off a rough season in 2020-2021 where his numbers dropped dramatically to 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, so there is hope that, given his past production, he can get back on track under Kidd’s watch.
