While the Los Angeles Dodgers extended qualifying offers to free-agent All-Stars Corey Seager and Chris Taylor, they did not extend one to veteran ace Clayton Kershaw, who has spent his entire 14-year career with the franchise.
Kershaw, 33, has won three Cy Young Awards and helped the Dodgers win the 2020 World Series.
Kershaw went 10-8 with a 3.55 ERA over 22 regular season starts for the Dodgers last season, but was force to exit a start on October 1st with a recurrence of the inflammation around his forearm and elbow that cost him more than 2 months. Kershaw would not pitch in the postseason.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said at the time that Kershaw’s ulnar collateral ligament was intact and that he did not require Tommy John surgery, but the team will likely continue to monitor him during the offseason.
